Why is it needed?
Injuries can interrupt normal blood circulation and lymphatic flow and this can cause a build-up of fluid toxins which limits the immune system's ability to fight off disease. To encourage healing and resolution of swelling, we can help the lymphatic system to drain properly with gentle, rhythmic, pumping movements of the soft tissue in the direction of the lymphatic flow.
Patients with the following conditions can benefit from our manual lymphatic drainage program:
- Primary and secondary lymphedema
- Venous insufficiency
- Non-infected inflammatory conditions
- After orthopedic surgery
- Circulatory disturbances
- Sports injuries
- Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
- Before and after plastic surgery
Currently, our staff includes Alaska's only manual lymphatic drainage therapists certified by the highly respected Dr. Vodder School International.
