How We Help You

At advanced physical therapy, our training includes using our unique experiences, voices, and touch to promote your healing. No two patients are identical, so we customize therapies to fit your individual needs. Even our most challenged patients discover that they can restore muscle and joint function with hands-on therapy, a personalized movement program, and health education.

Our intitial clinical evaluation has two parts. First, we identify the pain-causing structure(s) to enable specific treatment of that injured tissue and also to ensure that this painful region is not overly-stressed during the healing process. Second, we evaluate the functionality of all the muscle and joints in the movement chain in which the injured structure lies. For instance, a stiff joint or spastic, painful muscle anywhere in the trunk or limb will overload the injured structure and thus produce more pain and/or prevent improvement.

Treatment sessions are one hour of one-on-one care, and involve manual therapy such as soft tissue mobilization, massage, and joint mobilization to restore muscles and joints to a healthy state. Treatment also involves pain-relieving techniques for the injured structure ranging from electric stimulation, to traction, to manual therapy. With nearly every injury, automatic skills that provide stabily during daily activities are often lost, and we work with the client to restore these physiologic stabilization/activation skills. Exercise programs are designed to prevent re-injury and to optimize performance related to the patient's work or recreational goals.

Our dedication to service in our community extends beyond the walls of each clinic. We are community volunteers, coaches, and active participants in the lives of Alaskans. Visit our Facebook page to see where we've been, and where we are going.
